Many scrutineers mistakenly assume that a solid Green LED at neutral means the ESC is in illegal timing mode. When a Sanwa ESC is connected to an SSL receiver (RX-472, RX-482, RX-491, RX-493), the Green LED stays solidly lit to indicate an active SSL telemetry link, while the Blue LED flashes to confirm zero-timing Blinky Mode. As long as the Blue LED is pulsing, the unit is 100% compliant.

Sanwa engineered the ESC firmware and SSL (Sanwa Synchronized Link) protocol so that Mode 4 (BOOST) is strictly classified as a Non-SSL Function. It has no corresponding CODE AUX register in the wireless RF stream. It can ONLY be changed physically via the ESC SET button or Program Box Gen2.

How to convert the drift-spec SV-D2 into a competition-legal touring/off-road Blinky ESC.
The SV-D2 shares identical core hardware, microcontroller, and power MOSFET board architecture with the flagship Super Vortex Gen2 PRO. However, native SV-D2 drift firmware (D2104100) does NOT blink its status LED at neutral, regardless of parameter zeroing.
Sanwa officially notes on their website that the Super Vortex Gen2 PRO firmware can be flashed directly onto the SV-D2. Once cross-flashed, the SV-D2 functions identically to a Gen2 PRO: all race software features are unlocked, and setting Mode 4 = #1 produces the continuous Flashing Blue LED required for full ROAR / IFMAR scrutineering approval.
Ensure your Program Box Gen2 is running the Gen2 PRO box firmware (PBOXA001_0103001).
