BENCH SCRUTINEERING &
FREE-REV RPM LIMITS

Technical bench verification protocol using laser tachometers and program box memory checks to catch hidden electronic timing advance beyond visual LED indicators.

Optical Laser Tachometer Protocol

Electronic timing advance dynamically advances stator commutation, inflating motor RPM under no-load conditions by 15% to 40%+.

1️⃣

Chassis Stand Setup

Place vehicle on a secure chassis stand with drive wheels removed or suspended freely in the air to prevent drive drag or vehicle movement.

2️⃣

Calibrated 8.40V Power

Connect a calibrated digital regulated DC power supply or a fully-charged benchmark 2S LiPo battery at verified 8.40V terminal voltage (4.20V for 1S pan cars).

3️⃣

Laser RPM Measurement

Target optical laser tachometer (or motor analyzer sensor) at reflective marker on pinion/rotor. Pull 100% full throttle for 3 seconds and record peak RPM.

Programmer Memory & Firmware Hash Audit

When post-race impound audits are called, scrutineers inspect ESC internal EEPROM memory registers.

Impound Operating Sequence

  1. Immediate Impound: Impound vehicle immediately as it leaves the driver stand. Competitors and mechanics are prohibited from touching or connecting to the car.
  2. Scrutineer Programmer Connection: Connect the official sanctioning body programming box into the ESC receiver or data port.
  3. Firmware Version Query: Verify the reported firmware version string against the whitelisted ROAR / IFMAR homologation table.
  4. Register Inspection: Confirm that Boost Timing = 0°, Turbo Timing = 0°, and Timing Advance = 0°.
